UFI names Chinese president for 2013

News this week: UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, announced the appointment of its next “Presidential trio” effective from November this year at the 78th UFI Congress in Valencia. Joining the trio as UFI’s incoming-president will be Chen Xianjin. Mr. Chen has been the chairperson of UFI’s Asia/Pacific Chapter since 2006 and is currently the chairman of the Organizing Committee of China Association for Exhibition Centers.

Part of the three-year UFI presidential cycle, the 2011 to 2012 year will see Arie Brienen succeed current-president Eric Everard with Chen Xianjin as incoming-president. Chen will assume his role as president at the 79th UFI Congress in Abu Dhabi in November 2012.

Mr. Chen’s appointment will also mark the first Chinese president in UFI’s 86-year history. With extensive experience in the international exhibitions industry since 1984, Chen most recently acted as deputy director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination from 2007 to 2010.
