News this week: The Taiwan government’s trade promotion body, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), is reportedly planning to lead a delegation team to mainland China next month to seek out possible trade show partnerships. The tour is to be organised on the back of the Taiwan-China Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) signed last year.
According to media reports, the executive vice president of TAITRA, Walter Yeh, has stated that the delegation will hold meetings in Shanghai, Chengdu, Xian, Shenzhen and Xiamen with potential trade show partners. Yeh added that an agreement to organise two “emerging-industry” trade shows with Chinese groups is close to being finalised.
TAITRA expects the net area sold by trade show organisers in Taiwan to increase by around 10% this year, but does not expect further growth until the expansion of the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall 2 comes online in late 2014 or early 2015.
