MICE stimulation programme for Macau extended

News this week: The Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) announced the extension of the “Strategic MICE Stimulation Program” until the end of 2011. The program, originally due to end this month, received wide support from local MICE industry players according to the Macau Convention and Exhibition Association (MCEA).

Launched in May 2009, the program has supported 246 events in total, of which 95 were meetings and conventions, 47 were exhibitions and 104 incentive programs. An estimated budget of US$3.4 million will be added to the program during the extension period.

Additionally, the creation of an official website for local MICE events was discussed earlier this week during a committee meeting for the development of the convention and exhibition industry. The website is said to provide information about the industry from public services and various institutes.
