Alibaba to help Japan firms enter Chinese market

News this week: Alibaba.com Japan announced the launch of a new service for Japanese manufacturers to sell consumer products in China through its B2C sister company, Taobao. Taobao’s service will reportedly help with the complicated procedures required to obtain trade permissions from relevant Chinese government agencies.

Additionally, Alibaba announced that the company will also offer warehouse space and handle both website management and customer support for their Chinese consumers. The service is set to launch in January 2012.

Taobao CEO, Jonathan Lu, was quoted, “High-quality Japanese products are popular on the Taobao site, so we have been receiving requests from users to directly buy the products from Japanese firms.”
